Seismic WebGIS PGG

On the initiative of our Committee member, Adrian Brol, and with his considerable participation, Polska Grupa Górnicza launched a map portal showing mining tremors occurring in the company's mining areas. The WebGIS map on the seismic activity of mines can be found in the "Corporate zone" of the pgg.pl portal in the "Other activities" - "Mining damage adjustment" tab. The project is carried out by the Department of Deposit Management and Ecology, the Natural Hazards Office and the PGG S.A. IT and Telecommunications Department. Portal PGG Sejsmika Górnicza .

Postgraduate Studies "IT in Mining Engineering"

December 17 at the main seat of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A. in Jastrzębie Zdrój, the official ending of the postgraduate studies "IT tools in mining engineering" was held. The initiator of these studies was the chairman of the Mining Geomatics Committee, Artur Krawczyk, and the organizer was the Faculty of Mining and Geoengineering of the AGH The studies were organized in response to the company's demand for the development of data processing competences by the company's employees. In addition to the employees of the Faculty of Mining and Geoengineering, members of the Committee of Mining Geomatics of the PASI contributed significantly to the establishment of these studies. The chairman of the GG Committee conducted classes on spatial databases and GIS, Paweł Kosydor on FME and Dariusz Biegun on 3D Modeling Autocad and MapDraw. Dominik Galica taught Minescape. Studies started in May 2019 and ended in February 2020.

Crowdsourcing call to pay for the QGIS point cloud plugin

Hereby, members of the Commission would like to make public support for the crowdsourcing initiative to finance the plug-in supporting the cloud of laser scanning points in the QGIS environment. It is worth investing in the program code, which will be extremely useful for Polish mining plants. Details at Description of the plugin design and information about the campaign organizer and fundraising .

Article Publication - MapDRAW, 3D surface.

The article is related to documentation creation in cartographic departments of geological surveying in mines. It highlights the problem of creating three-dimensional models from two-dimensional digital maps. The article presents the methodology of obtaining the required information by using a new group of procedures called "Mini GIS". Step by step we present the method of creating TIN surface obtained from the raw data and a tool for optimizing the resulting surface. Then, the tools available to use the model to create profiles and generate contour formed on the surface are presented. The program enables users to smooth the resulting contours using for this purpose an original algorithm in conjunction with third-degree polynomial approximation. Thanks to these forms of handling course of generated contour it is very simplistic. Additionally, we present various automatic and manual methods of labeling contours, the use of surface gradient fill to improve the eff ect of 3D visualization. The developed methodology to generate contours allowed us to implement in an overlay of MapDraw AutoCAD one of the typical functions for GIS programs without using advanced mechanisms off ered by, for example, AutoCAD Civil. This solution enhances both the comfort, quality and the possibility of obtaining new information from the map resources with minimal effort from the user's side.

Article Publication - terrain subsidence calculation, Microstation

From the series of publications of commision members Artur Krawczyk together with student Paweł Owsianka, an article was published on the subject of land subsidence forecasting in the MicroStation environment: "The use of the Bentley MicroStation environment for programming calculations of predicted subsidence of land caused by underground mining operations" in E3S Web of Conferences 106, 01003 (2019) on line June 24, 2019
The paper presents a new concept of creating a program for calculating ground subsidence caused by underground mining extraction, which is substantially different than previously used solutions. Instead of compiling the calculation algorithm to an executable file, the whole application algorithm has been written in the Bentley MicroStation graphic environment’s interpreted language. This graphic environment is used in mining for keeping mining maps and the format is used for storing finished and designed mining exploitation data sets. The paper describes S. Knothe’s theory of the influence of mining exploitation on the terrain surface in the context of the calculation methodology used for terrain subsidence computation. Based on the theory of influence, the structure of the created MVBA (MicroStation Visual Basic for Applications) algorithm for interpolating subsidence contours is described. The new application is called uDEFO. Calculation results from the program are compared with calculation results from software currently used in coal mines.
